Memorial Day Weekend

Good gracious how wonderful are long weekends? Such a lovely concept after working on ships.
Saturday I packed a picnic and headed to meet up with friends for a very LA evening at Hollywood Forever cemetery. We drank sangria and watched the 1954 romantic comedy Sabrina, starring Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart  and William Holden. A personal note for those that haven't seen it...do. And skip the 1995 Harrison Ford version.

It's funny. I grew up in Southern California, and I've lived here most of my life, but I still feel like a tourist when I go to LA. There's a lot I'd still like to explore, and I'm definitely going to go to another movie at Hollywood Forever.

Sunday was a most wonderfully uneventful day. I'd originally planned on heading to the beach, but I just couldn't seem to get my act together and get going, so instead I watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part one....and two, and stayed in my jammies most of the day.

Monday morning and early afternoon was spent running a few errands. The sun was out and shining, so I stopped for an iced chai on the way home, changed into my bikini, put on a liberal coat of sunscreen, and headed outside to our lovely (and blessedly quiet...the neighbors must have taken their dogs away for the weekend) front yard to laze in the sun. I filled up a few pages in my journal, and started rereading The Great Gatsby. It seemed only too appropriate the the daisies in our front yard are going nuts, so I gathered up a few and stuck 'em in a jar.
